Battle of the Chefs (April 2021)
A competition like no other, the Cascades Verdae Culinary team came together for a Battle of the Chefs! Attendees enjoyed their first Signature Experience of 2021 on our Great Lawn and it was a massive success. Over 130 Members came to see the culinary department compete for votes as they prepared a dish made from two secret ingredients: swordfish and pickles. Members in attendance enjoyed scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and cocktails while listening to music by Cascades favorite country music singer, Fayssoux McClean. In the end, the votes were for Team Killer Bees and their delicious blackened swordfish with carrot hay and a pickled corn cake. The competition was close and the winning dish was served in the Cascades restaurant for Members to enjoy a full serving!
Southern Elegance Gala (June 2021)
Come one, come all to the Southern Elegance Gala! Cascades Verdae Members dressed to impress for an evening of upscale fare, drinks, and time with friends. The community’s formal dining room was decked out in glitz and glam as attendees dined on their choice of seafood with all of the classic sides. Following dinner, everyone wanted to boogie and get down with dancing, cocktails, and fellowship. It was truly an evening to remember!
Olympics Week (July 2021)
In honor of the 2021 Olympic Games being held in Tokyo, Cascade Verdae hosted their very own Cascades Games!! The week was full of activities, challenges, and the athletes who attended. During the opening day, attendees came together to celebrate with drinks and passed hors d’oeuvres prepared by the dining services team. Those who attended wrote down their best prediction for the total of medals that the USA would win during the games. Throughout the week our athletes participated in table tennis, cornhole, outdoor water games, and concluded with a day of taking their best shot during archery!
A Night in Monte Carlo (September 2021)
In September, the Members at Cascades Verdae took a trip to the French Riviera during their Monte Carlo Signature Experience! The day began with racing boats, a must-do in Monaco! Drivers were timed as they maneuvered their speed boat through our pool and obstacle course. The competition was fierce but we crowned just one winner! Later in the week, attendees headed to an indoor go-kart track for the Cascades Grand Prix! Members tried their hand behind the wheels of speedy vehicles as they took to the track just like the Monte Carlo Grand Prix. They zipped around the course, overtaking their competitors and even talking a little bit of smack (who could blame them?!). It was a sight to see and our participants enjoyed racing against their friends and neighbors! To conclude the time in Monte Carlo, attendees couldn’t leave without hitting the casino. Cascades Verdae was transformed into the Monaco Casino Royale for an evening. Princess Grace and Prince Rainier met our travelers as they arrived for cocktails and delicious appetizers. Attendees were treated to a Mediterranean-themed meal in our lavishly decorated Dining Room, topping the meal off with Bananas Foster and Cherries Jubilee for dessert. As they descended the grand staircase to the ballroom, they were met with crystal chandeliers, red velvet carpet, and a 7-piece orchestra! At the end of this exciting trip, everyone returned home, just steps away, to Cascades Verdae for a restful night after such a grand trip.
Greaser Murder Mystery (October)
The Cool Cats of the Cascades were transported to the 1950s during October Signature Experience, ‘Greaser Murder Mystery’! A cast of 20 Members and Cascades team performed in a skit for attendees as they deduced, questioned, and riddled out this murder mystery! Audience members came dressed as high school students who were caught up in rival gangs. While the drama played out throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed vintage diner food including patty melts, fries, onion rings, and milkshakes. The evening culminated with a Sock Hop for all attendees! A “murder” took place and audience was responsible for guessing which of our Teen Rebels was the “killer”. An evening of whodunnit and mystery was the perfect way to get in the mood for Halloween!
