Top 5 Events of 2023
As 2023 ends, it is the perfect time to look back and remember all the fabulous and fun events at Cascades Verdae. Our team pushed the boundaries to create unique experiences for our Members. The dedicated Social and Wellness Directors created detailed, packed calendars that provided our Members with plenty of adventures! From sensational Signature Experiences to hoppin’ happy hours to exciting excursions and so much more, this year was one for the record books, making it difficult to narrow down our top events.
Get ready to count down our top five events for this year:
5. Disco Nights – Signature Experience
At Cascades Verdae, sometimes we blame it on the boogie! Members had a groovy time during their Disco Signature Experience! The experience kicked off with Disco Bingo! Members had to listen to the groovy 70s songs and match them with the names on their bingo board! When they won, they yelled DISCO! The champions received a disco costume piece to wear to the disco party later! After a competitive game, Members returned to their homes to get ready to dance the night away. Members slid into their platform shoes and slipped on those bell bottoms! They entered our Grand Ballroom to find it transformed back to the 1970s! We were all dancing queens on the floor, shaking our groove thing!
4. All Our Exes Live in Texas – Signature Experience
They say everything is bigger in Texas, so we wanted to bring this mentality to their Signature Experience: go big or go home, right? Attendees grabbed their boots, blue jeans, flannel, and cowboy hats and geared up for our big event! Members started their experience with delicious happy hour drinks and a mechanical bull! Members took turns going through the motions of trying to stay on the bull the longest, and to say we couldn’t stop laughing is an understatement! Afterward, the amazing Dining Services team at Cascades Verdae prepared a delicious Brisket and Chicken with all the fixings for a classic southern dish. Members dined on a delightful meal and then danced the night away to classic country tunes.
3. Come Fly Away With Me – Signature Experience
Cascades Members jumped on Cascades Airline, the Premier Airline of the Upstate, and traveled to China, Jamaica, France, and Germany! As Members entered the dining room to find it transformed into each country. As they moved through the room, they dined on delicacies from each country. The Dining Services team prepared dishes some Members had never had, like escargot! After a delicious meal, our Members waltzed down to the Grand Ballroom for dancing and a live performance from The Flashbacks. Members live on the dance floor, so we danced the night away!
2. Dabo Sweeney Comes to Cascades
Cascades Verdae proudly welcomed the exceptional Dabo Swinney! Dabo is the Head Coach of the Clemson Football Team! He came by to visit an extraordinary honorary member of the Clemson University family, who is also a Member of our Reflections neighborhood. It was such a treat to have Dabo visit, speak about how much the Clemson family loves him, take pictures with staff, and sign autographs! A huge thank you to Dabo for taking some time to stop by campus! Let’s all wish him the best of luck this upcoming season! Go Tigers!
1. Carl Sandburg House
This year, we visited the Carl Sandburg house in Flat Rock, North Carolina! This beautiful house’s interior resembles how it looked when the Sandburg family lived there! Carl Sanburg was an American poet, biographer, journalist, and editor. He won three Pulitzer Prizes: two for his poetry and one for his biography of Abraham Lincoln. Everyone loved walking around the mountainside next to the house to make our way to the tour!
And just like that, this year is ending, and we are ready to start another fantastic year full of fabulous events. We can’t wait to see what this year holds and how it will surpass this year’s events!
