Reindeer Games

Extra, Extra! Members at Cascades Verdae know how to have a good time! We ended the Christmas season with the Reindeer Games in our Grand Ballroom. It was an afternoon full of fun, to say the least. Members participated in an Elf Scavenger Hunt, Trivia games, and a reindeer ring toss!

Cheers to 2021!

Our Members said goodbye to 2020 in style! The Dining Services team prepared a glorious meal for our Members to enjoy. The menu featured Bass, Rack of Lamb, and Bone-in Ribeye, followed by Chocolate Covered Strawberries and Champagne to top the night off.

Vanessa Cole

Did you know that January 6th is the day that many early Appalachian settlers celebrated Christmas? We believe in learning something new every day, so we sat down with our favorite storyteller, Vanessa Cole. She told us of the Appalachian Twelve Days of Christmas celebrations and the Santa Train that has run through the mountain towns for several decades delivering gifts to the children. She shared some of the songs that they would traditionally sing and it connected us to the different stories she was telling.

Sip and Paint

Here in South Carolina, we have the beauty of pretty mild temperatures throughout the year! Given this, our winters are not filled with beautiful snowy landscapes regularly. We thought it would be a great way to experience the beauty by making these landscapes the theme of our sip and paint this month! Members sipped on mimosas and worked on these lovely cardinal paintings.

Ship Building

We have some incredibly talented Members that call Cascades Verdae home. Highlighting and sharing those talents is a priority to our community in any way that we can. One hobby that is growing in popularity is model shipbuilding. The ships are displayed in the hallways and rotate to share their stories with Members who pass by to read their stories.

This season, it is a replica of the African Queen from the classic film with Kathryn Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart. Isn’t this impressive?

Live Music

Live music is a favorite in our community! We were thrilled to have one of our favorite musicians, Ethan Uslan back for two-afternoon performances! Ethan is an acclaimed pianist who brings a unique old-time jazz approach to so many of our favorite tunes.
